DESCRIPTION
check out this old school apple computer drawing. i created this piece back in college for a photoshop 101 class. they asked us to scan something and play with it in photoshop. i drew my computer in pen + ink, then stripped it down and redrew it in photoshop. that's when i learned PS is not the best drawing application, but def good for coloring, texture, etc... wow that was a long, long time ago...

Rosetta Tharpe (mar 20 1915 – oct 9 1973) was a pioneering Gospel singer, songwriter and recording artist who attained great popularity in the 1930s and 40s w/ a unique mixture of spiritual lyrics and early rock accompaniment. She became the first great recording star of Gospel music in the late 30s and became known as the "original soul sister."

Willing to cross the line between sacred and secular by performing her inspirational music of 'light' in the 'darkness' in nightclubs and concert halls with big bands behind her, her witty, idiosyncratic style left a lasting mark conventional gospel. While she offended some conservative churchgoers with her forays into the world of pop, she never left gospel music.

this is a drawing i did about six months ago in illustrator cs3. i have a thing for pop-art and generic branding (like product placement in old 70's and 80's movies). this was inspired by what i remember the cups of soda to look like at a ballpark concession stand as a kid.

they're only my favorite band (aside from whichever band prince employs), and their genius leader/drummer/producer ?uest announced about a month ago that they've stopped touring... why? because they are now the house band backing up jimmy fallon's new late show.

i mean i "like" jim. i own fever pitch. but i love the roots. so alls i gotta say is mr. fallon, you got some dope sneakers to fill...
